Monice was born in Northern California and began her hair journey at a young age. Her mom was diagnosed with cancer and, while undergoing treatment, became her first client when the time came to cut her hair. During that harrowing moment, something beautiful came to light. Monice's passion for helping others feel beautiful even during a heavy stage in life became a passion. Monice got accepted to go through an ROP program in high school and began her dive into the cosmetology world. 

 

In 2015 Monice found a new appreciation for the art of curls after becoming certified through Ouidad, "The Curl Experts." After some years of working behind the chair, she had the wish to explore the world of salon ownership. In 2016 she became co-owner of Nevaeh Salon, a twelve-chair salon in Roseville, CA. She became well versed in both Summit and Strategies business concepts during her co-owning. 

 

In 2017 Monice joined the Ouidad Education team and started her journey to helping other stylists gain curl confidence. Soon she began to facilitate certifications across the United States. Her first debut in taking the stage was at a Curl Artisan event in Long Beach, California. In 2019 she made her appearance on Salon Centric's Main Stage at the ABS show in Chicago.

 

In 2020 a pandemic shut down many salons for months at a time, causing the challenging decision to sell Nevaeh Salon. With the firm belief that everything happens for a reason, Monice made the bold step to open her studio salon. MoHairGoals Salon emerged and was an immediate success. Specializing in texture and blonding, she could draw in a clientele near and far from those seeking her expertise. 

 

Monice has joined forces with the Hanzo Nation Education Team in hopes of continuing to spread curl knowledge. She has continued to thrive within BBI as an Artistic Director for Ouidad, Wet Brush Pro, and Bio Ionic. She hopes to continue to spread the curl love in helping educate others during their curl journey.
